UK Defence Minister accepts that DU can cause ill health but it's business as usual

United Nations First Committee overwhelmingly backs new uranium weapons resolution
127 states today backed a second resolution highlighting health concerns over the use of uranium in conventional weapons. Several key states including Norway, the Netherlands and Finland changed their positions to back the resolution.31 October 2008 - ICBUW -

Write to Your Foreign Minister Today
ICBUW urgently needs your help in persuading your government to support a new resolution at the UN First Committee. The resolution is a continuation of the process started last November when a vast majority of states backed a resolution highlighting concerns over the health and environmental effects of uranium weapons.27 October 2008 - ICBUW -

Events in Belgium
The Belgian Coalition Stop Uranium Wapens has launched a a letter writing campaign to persuade Foreign Minister Karel de Gucht to support the new resolution on uranium weapons currently passing through the United Nations. Last December Belgium abstained in the General Assembly vote, in spite of their domestic ban on uranium weapons.30 October 2008 - ICBUW
